Ennis sits at the middle of it. The Madison River runs through town, and within an hour's drive you're on any of seven blue-ribbon trout streams. More blue-ribbon water inside a one-hour radius than anywhere else in the Lower 48.
The “50-Mile Riffle.” 2,900–3,500 trout per mile between Quake Lake and Ennis Lake. Guided floats from any of the shops in town; wade access up and down the valley.

Ennis sits at the center of it — a small main street of fly shops, a grocery, a few good restaurants, and a bar or two. Yellowstone's west entrance is an hour south.
